BIDDING FOR SUCCESS: MAINTAINING AND REPAIRING
PLACES OF WORSHIP
Gracehill Moravian Church, Church Road, Gracehill, BT42 2NL

Sometimes we take our Places of Worship for granted, that they will always be there, that they will just take care of themselves. Maintenance plans and procedures can seem like a daunting prospect and are easily put off as we get on with the more important day-to-day stuff.....until, that is, the roof starts leaking or bits of masonry start falling off!

The National Churches Trust (NCT) and Ulster Historic Churches Trust (UHCT) are delighted to be able to present a practical training event, led by professionals, where we will explore the importance of maintenance and early diagnosis of potential issues as well as looking at what help is out there to help you stop minor problems becoming major ones. You will be among the first to find out about UHCT's new Maintenance Pilot Scheme and learn about funding sources available to Places of Worship including NCT's new grant programme targetted specifically at Places of Worship in Northern Ireland. We will also review some recent innovations that make maintenance easier such as the use of drones.

In the afternoon there is an optional session with the Heritage Lottery Fund team (you can opt in/out on the booking form). HLF is one of the largest funders of maintenance and repair work to Places of Worship in the country. Members of the local team will take you through their various grant programmes as well as giving you some "top tips" on what makes a strong bid to them. There will also be a Question and Answer session.

Tickets for the event are £15 which will include refreshments, lunch and the event pack.
