At the meeting of the Diocesan Synod on 02 November 2019 the appointment of
Mr Derek Scott to the position of Diocesan Safeguarding and Compliance Officer was announced.
A former senior PSNI officer, Derek has extensive experience in dealing with
safeguarding legislation in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Initially he will undertake a review of the implementation of Diocesan responsibilities under the Church of Ireland Safeguarding Trust policy following which it is intended to arrange Information Evenings for parishes early in 2020.
