NEW ALL IRELAND PRESIDENT ADDRESSES
SPRING COUNCIL IN DUBLIN
Ruth Mercer, at her first Spring Council in March
said it was just a joy and privilege to be here with all the members of
Council.
Ruth in her opening remarks said that “Our theme this
year is all about Relationships and YES I do believe that our
relationships with one another and with God is very important as we go
about our daily life.
From the day I was born I have been forming relationships.”
Ruth mentioned the wonderful bond of love and
friendship within her own family.
In her new role as all Ireland President Ruth spoke
of the special occasions
so far in the few months since taking up office:
The
Commissioning Service in London where Bishop Inwood spoke about Jesus

· Thanksgiving.
Ruth expressed that we are all delighted that our New
Central Chaplain is Bishop Ken Clarke from Kilmore Elphin and Ardagh. We
do wish his every blessing in his new role.
Ruth then spoke of
her Commissioning, along with the Trustee Body in St Patrick’s
Cathedral in Armagh on Sunday 7th March.
She thanked everyone for coming and to Mrs Florrie
Revels and the Armagh Trustee Board for their welcome and reception.
It was a very special day.
Ruth’s first official engagement was Derry and Raphoe
Quiet Day where time was spent on reflection on our Relationship with
God and Prayer.
Getting to know each other ….There were sessions with
Lady Christine Eames on two occasions in Dublin and Armagh with the
new D.P’s and V.P’s and Unit coordinators.
In closing Ruth compared the “March of the Penguins”
as a fine example of working as a team, how their endurance, patience
and determination was similar to the Mothers’ Union in their loving and
caring for each other.
In concluding Ruth said that “Each day brings new
experiences and new relationships.
I know that I will have many, many different experiences and new
relationships in my new role, as I travel along the path that, I believe
God has planned for me,
I know that I
could not do it in my own strength.
Philippians 4 -13 I can do all things through Christ
which strengthens me.
I pray that in all I do, and in all we do, that we
will draw from that strength each day.
Thank You

There are many opportunities for all members to engage actively in projects, worship, events and campaigns.
Membership of a branch - or diocesan membership - is for anyone who has been baptised and wishes to support the organisation’s aim and objectives. It is for both men and woman, regardless of age or martial status.
