Armagh Diocesan Pioneer Ministry
Recently the National Pioneer Ministry Team, Rev. Rob Jones, Ven Barry Forde, and Ingrid Brennan came to share with all the clergy in Church House Armagh.
It was a really informative morning for everyone, even for those who may have had some idea about this new ministry within the Church of Ireland.
There were opportunities to ask questions and to think about ways in which individual churches could be pioneering in their own setting as well as ways in which the Diocese as a whole could consider ways in which they could reach those who have little or no contact with church.
It was good to have a chance to discuss this in small groups and then feed back to the bigger gathering.
The morning was encouraging and many left feeling that they would go back to their own parishes with a new enthusiasm to reach out beyond their own church walls or to develop new ways to gather people and reach people for the gospel.
The newly formed Pioneer Hub, Rev. Carlton Baxter, Rev. Pete Smith, Val Thom (Church Army) along with the Diocesan Pioneer Advocate and the Archbishop will continue to meet and move forward with possible Pioneer projects in parishes and the diocese. As these develop, new members will be added to the Hub to ensure that the necessary information and support is available.
Anyone who would like more information about a possible Pioneer Project or would be interested in the training to become a Pioneer Minister, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
