This week sees the publication of ‘On this day earth shall ring’, a new Christmas carol by Peter Thompson (rector of Donaghmore and Assistant Organist of Armagh Cathedral).
Described by the publisher as “cheerful, upbeat, joyful and setting a rare set of words, this piece will be easily learnt, and your choir and congregation will love it.”
Written for unison or two-part choir with optional descant, this piece is suitable for the most modest of choirs. It is published in the Accessible Choral Library, a series of sacred and secular music for choirs of one, two or three parts, published by Tim Knight Music at Spartan Press.
It is the sixth contribution from Peter to the series, and joins his settings of:
- For the Fallen (unison),
-
In the bleak midwinter (unison, 2 or 3 part),
-
Day by day (SAMen),
-
Let all the world in every corner sing, and
- Blest are the pure in heart (both unison or SAMen).
All are available from the publisher, www.spartanpress.co.uk,
from www.musicroom.com, or from all good music shops. Full details of the entire series can be found on the website www.timknightmusic.com or on the “Accessible Choral Library” Facebook page.
