In accordance with the statutes of the Cathedral Church of Saint Patrick, Armagh, the Reverend Mark Gallagher, Rector of the Parish of Drumglass, has been appointed Succentor of the Cathedral.
The appointment has been made by the Precentor, the Reverend Canon Bill Adair, and has been approved and confirmed by the Archbishop of Armagh and the Dean of Armagh. The Succentor will be installed during Choral Evensong on a Sunday before Easter. The Succentor will carry out his new role in the Cathedral alongside his parochial duties as Rector of Drumglass and will also serve on the Cathedral Board.
In welcoming the appointment, the Dean of Armagh, the Very Reverend Shane Forster, said, “I am delighted to welcome Mark as our new Succentor in the Cathedral. His musical ability, as both singer and organist, will mean that he is well suited to the role and I know he will have much to contribute to life on the Hill of Armagh in the years ahead”.
